Lesson 3 Objectives:

1. Naming angles and finding their measurements.

2. Angle Addition Postulate

************************************************************************************************************************************************************

An angle is a figure formed by two rays that have the same endpoint. The rays are called the sides of the angle, and their common end point is the vertex of the angle.

Angles are classified according to their measures.

Acute angles: Measure between 0 and 90 degrees

Right angles: Measure 90 degrees

Obtuse angles: Measure between 90 and 180 degrees

Straight angle: Measure 180 degrees

Angle Addition Postulate:

Congruent angles are angles that have equal measures and denoted by using the symbol .

Adjacent angles are two angles in a plane that have a common vertex and a common side but no common interior points.

The bisector of an angle is the ray that divides the angle into two congruent adjacent angles.
