PROFIT GAIN/LOSS WORKSHEET (correct student work)
J House Media recently changed their charge amounts and began to use new software that costs $750.

Q1. If J House Media now charges $65 per hour spent on a website answer the following:

  1. Write a new linear equation and graph the new function. Also graph the function that would deal only with hour/money, in other words leave out the software price.
  1. Identify the slope and the y intercept for both equations.

Q2. Looking at the graph when it takes a.) 10 hours b.)12 hours c.) 15 hours to complete a website predict how much the company would make. (Go back and check your number algebraically)

Q3. Using the following table, figure out if the company made a profit gain in the design process and the programming process of creating their website.  After you have found if it was a loss or a gain explain what the department did right or wrong.

Q4. Now look at the chart as a whole.  Overall did the company have a profit gain or loss?  If the company had a loss what could they do differently so that they would have a profit gain?

Q5. When calculating gain and loss you normally put the equation inside an absolute value.  For our work why have we left it out?
