BRIAN DEITZ

I was born in Olean, NY (90 miles south of Buffalo) and have lived in numerous parts of the United States. After graduating high school from Allegany Central High School I attended Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio where I ran Division III Track & Field and played soccer. While attending college I followed a career path that led me into sports information/media relations. After receiving my B.A. in Sports Administration/Business Management in 1998 I attended John Carroll University for graduate school to pursue a career in communications and public relations. Following a year of graduate school I received my first full-time job as Sports Information Director at Marietta College in southeastern Ohio. I started to m ove up the ranks in the sports information field and after 11 months at Marietta I was named Assistant Sports Information Directorat Kent State University in Kent, Ohio. This is where I began to learn what it is like working for a mid-major Division I school that received much more publicity than smaller schools like Baldwin-Wallace and Marietta. Again I improved my skills enough that after two years at Kent State I had the privilege of being named Assistant Director of Sports Information at the University of Florida where I would be in charge of the nationally ranked baseball program.

I met my wife Emily at Florida and decided that I wanted to pursue another career in mathematics education which has brought me to the University of Georgia. My wife and I moved to the Athens, GA area in July 2005 and we love being in SEC country. I enjoy travelling, running and playing basketball.
