EMAT 6680 Write-ups

Below you will find 13 write-ups of investigations I have done over the past few months. To appreciate the investigations thoroughly it will be important for you to have, on hand, the following mathematical software: Key Curriculum Press' Geometers Sketchpad, Pacific Tech's Graphing Calculator 3.1, and Microsoft Excel 2000.

As you are traveling through the site, you will discover that these investigations are mere appetizers for a banquet of mathematical topics. This site is, in no way, the be-all-end-all on the chosen topics of discussion. So, read up on a write-up and take it to the next level. Most of all, enjoy your journey!

Branching Outward

During the Fall of 2000, I had the opportunity to use what I had learned in my technology class for a project in my Foundations of Geometry class (MATH 7200). The assignment was to come up with a topic that used aspects of geometry we were learning in a real-world setting. Not in my wildest dreams did I think I would end up creating a web link for irrigation farming!

When the Fall of 2001 arrived, the irrigation project was alive again! I expanded upon that which I learned from the previous year and turned the web link into a more meaningful, user-friendly site for secondary school students.
