EMAT
6700 Project Proposal
What will ultimately
make the EMAT 6700 project different from its predicessor is the
depth to which the topic is taken. Below is a bullet list of goals
that I hope to implement throughout the coming semester to make
the difference more prominent from its current state.
- Adjust the information
with the audience, secondary school students, in mind.
- Update the current
information on the MATH 7200 project, including what's involved
in setting up certain commercial and residential irrigation plans.
- Develop classroom
units and lessons with irrigation as the real-world hook. Some
possible topics to be covered could be: area, perimeter, geometric
proofs concerning squares, rectangles and irregular shapes, and
statistics and data display.
- Use technology (i.e.
Geometer's Sketchpad, Microsoft Excel) as a learning tool within
these lessons and the web link.
- Make the web link
more interactive with students.
- Make the web link
more user-friendly (i.e. including a Definition of Terms page).
