Shannon M. Umberger

I am a first year master's student at the University of Georgia.

I spent the past two years (1998-1999 and 1999-2000) teaching mathematics at Cary High School in Cary, NC, a suburb of Raleigh. Courses I taught included Algebra I, Algebra I-A, Technical Mathematics, and Algebra III/Trigonometry.

I received my undergraduate degrees from North Carolina State University in May of 1998. I graduated with degrees in Secondary Mathematics Education and Middle Grades Math and Science Education. I also obtained minor certificates in English and Environmental Sciences.

I grew up in Mocksville, NC, which is twenty minutes west of Winston-Salem. My parents, Larry and Karen, still live there. I have two younger sisters, Gretchen and Erin, and one younger brother, Larry Jr. Gretchen just graduated from NCSU and is now attending Clemson University to work on an MBA. Erin spent the past two years at UNC-Charlotte, but is now living in Athens, GA, where she is working and establishing residency so she can then finish her studies at UGA. Larry Jr. is just starting his undergraduate career at Clemson University.

My hobbies including playing sports (volleyball, basketball, soccer, softball, swimming), reading, and traveling (especially to Atlanta to visit my boyfriend, Chris!).
