Flagpole Problem Solution #2


Brant Callaway, Tommy DePriest and Katie Pinson are three students in my Advanced Algebra & Trigonometry class. Collectively, they presented the following solution using a graphical approach:


The top of the flagpole would travel in a circular arc if the pole fell. They graphed the circle with equation and checked to see if the point (18, 16) was located on the exterior of the circle.
