When P is located on a side of a triangle, two cases exist.

The first case occurs when both R and S exist. A pedal triangle with no special properties is formed. This is possible when angle ACB is less than 90 degrees.

The second case occurs when S does not exist because the measure of angle ACB is 90 degrees or greater. In this case, a degenerate triangle is formed.
