Biography for Janet Kaplan

I have developed a real interest in mathematics and the power that it holds late in my career.  I received my master’s degree in Health Services Administration in 1977 and worked in the Healthcare Computer field for many years.  In addition to taking time to raise my family, technology was moving way beyond me, and so I decided that I would get back to basics……to where it all begins…..with mathematics.  It is, after all, the language of science and technology.

Now completing certification in secondary mathematics, my personal teaching goal is to help students learn to have a positive disposition towards math.  If I can prevent one student from developing math anxiety, I will feel successful.

Originally from New York, I’ve lived in Atlanta for ten years with my husband and two teenage sons.
