A Little About

Janet M. Shiver

I am currently a doctoral student in mathematics education at the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia. I began my studies during the summer of 2003. I recieved both my masters and bachelors degrees from Auburn University.

I am a mathematics instructor at Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville, Georgia where I primarily teach undergraduate mathematics and mathematics education courses.  I began teaching with the department of mathematics and computer science at GC&SU in 2001. Prior to my arrival at GC&SU I taught at Georgia Military College for five years, Baldwin High School for six years and Radium Springs Middle School for two years. All of my sixteen years of teaching have been within the state of Georgia.

My husband also teaches at Georgia College & State University.  He is the director of bands and, in addtion to other duties, conducts the concert, pep and jazz bands at the University.  I have three wonderful children, two boys and a girl, ranging in ages from 7 to almost 13.  When I am not busy either teaching or taking classes, I enjoy spending time in my garden.  I also enjoy quilting and clogging with the Old Capitol Cloggers of Milledgeville.
