Happiness in marriage

Are people happy in their marriages? The Table shows results from the 1998 General Social Survey for married adults classified by gender and level of happiness.

Questions

1) List the sample space for the possible outcomes on gender and level of happiness together.

2) Estimate the probability that a married adult is very happy.

3) Estimate the probability that a married adult is male and very happy.

4) Estimate the probability that a randomly selected married adult is very happy, given that their gender is (i) male, (ii) female.

5) For these subjects, are the event being a male and being very happy independent?

6) Give an example of two disjoint events for this example. Are the events independent, or dependent? Explain.
