Something about Me

I was born and raised in a small town called Dublin, GA. I have two brothers, and a very large extended family. I always loved math in grade school, and by the end of my freshman year I decided that I wanted to be a mathematics major (after choosing 3 others before that, of course). I received my BS degree in mathematics from Kennesaw State University, and I am currently pursuing an M. Ed. in mathematics education from the University of Georgia, Athens, GA. I am a teacher at North Gwinnett High School in Suwanee, GA, which is also home of the Bulldogs! At North Gwinnett, I coach the dance/step team and have served on various committees and teams. I received one of the "Dog on Duty" awards for my department this year and was just recently nominated by some of my students for the inclusion in the listing of Who's Who Among American High School Teachers.

Before I began teaching math, I worked in the corporate setting doing a number of things- balancing A/R ledgers, assisting in front office duties and inputting data for two nursing homes and volunteering with the Small Business Development Center in Kennesaw helping individuals write business plans and analyze their financial goals using spreadsheets. Once I entered the classroom, however, I found my niche! I love teaching mathematics, and I am constantly thinking of new ways to make math fun and exciting (and meaningful) for my students.

"Go ye therefore and teach all nations...for unto whom much is given, much is also required..."
