Assignment #1
Nicole Mosteller EMAT 6680

From previous investigations of functions, we recall that by changing the constants or the coefficients in the equations the basic form of the graph will be altered slightly. For example, the basic parabola, can be shifted left or right, or up or down, or stretched along the x direction by the sides of the parabola or along the y direction by the vertex.

Figure 1:

Figure 1 gives the basic form of the parabola, but by alterning the equation with coefficients and a constant, notice the graph is still a parabola. It has merely been flipped, shifted, and stretched.

Figure 2:

Assignment #1 takes this simple idea of altering fuctions and requires an investigation into several functions and relations by changing coefficients and constants. Investigation #1: Examine
