Suggested GSP Manipulations
Nicole Mosteller EMAT 6690

During my first year of teaching geometry, I realized the need for organized investigations for my students to explore several geometry concepts. With the aid of technological manipulations, I noticed that my students were able to make conjectures about several geometrical properties without any prompt. As a result, I have developed the following geometry computer labs that I use with the Geometer's Sketch Pad available to my students at school.

Lab1: Exploring Parallel Lines Cut by a Transversal

Lab 2: Exploring Interior Angle Sums of Polygons

Lab 3: Exploring Exterior Angle Sums of Polygons

Lab 4: Exploring Properties of Special Parallelograms

In addition to these labs, my students are required to be proficient in the use of technology to complete various constuctions. Throughout my geometry course and in addition to doing the compass and straightedge constructions, my students also complete a list of GSP constructions. The GSP constructions allow for additional manipulation that is not possible with compass and straightedge constructions alone.
