I have been a high school math teacher for 6 years. For the past five years, I taught in northeast Georgia at Rabun Gap Nacoochee School, a private, co-educational boarding school for students in grades 6-12. I am currently taking a year off from teaching to concentrate on obtaining a Masters of Education in secondary mathematics.
In addition to my teaching responsibilities at Rabun Gap Nacoochee School, I also served as the Outdoor Director. I helped design and lead many trips for students. The most popular trips included: white-water kayaking, rock climbing, mountain biking, and backpacking.
Northeast Georgia is a wonderful spring board to endless opportunities of outdoor pursuits. The most visited and one of the most beautiful national parks, The Great Smoky Mountain National Park, is in our "backyard". The Chattooga River is designated a Wild and Scenic River and is a nationally ranked destination for white-water kayakers. In addition, Springer Mountain, GA is the southern terminus of the Appalachian Trail. If you have not visited these three areas, you must, but these three suggestions are just an introduction to the wonderful natural environment easily accessible to Athenians.
My other interests include: running, reading, listening to music, and travelling.
