Bill Tankersley

I was born William Joseph Tankersley on June 22, 1970 in Greenville, South Carolina. Although the Tankersley family has inhabited Columbia County, Georgia since the Revolutionary War, I have only lived there (in Appling) since 1976. I graduated from Harlem High School in 1988 and Augusta State University in 1994, where I received a B.S. in Mathematics as well as the Outstanding Senior in Mathematics award. I am currently in my fourth year teaching mathematics at Evans High School, where I teach Tech Prep Math and Trigonometry/Advanced Algebra. I am pursuing an M.Ed. in Mathematics Education at the University of Georgia, which I will complete Spring Quarter 1998.

I am married to the former Janet Lee Bush, who is originally from Emanuel County, Georgia. Janet grew up near the communities of Adrian and Norristown. She is a 1987 graduate of Swainsboro High School and a 1996 graduate of the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, where she earned a B.S. in Physical Therapy. Her specialty area is Pediatrics. We were married on December 6, 1997, at West Acres Baptist Church in Evans, Georgia.

My hobbies include traveling, genealogy, computers, and bluegrass music. I have been playing the banjo and guitar for about 7 years. My newest toy is a "banjo-mandolin" that my wife gave me for Christmas. I also enjoy model trains and coin collecting.
