I am a graduate student at the University of Georgia. I finished my MA program in Mathematics Education in Fall, 1996, and began the Ph.D. program in the Winter, 97. I am from Colombia. I have taught for more than 10 years at college level, in the Department of Mathematics of the University of Los Andes, in Bogotá. Before coming, I was working at "una empresa docente", a very promising research center in mathematics education in Colombia. I have worked with graphing calculators for teaching pre-calculus.

My areas of interest are history of mathematics, social, cultural, and political aspects of mathematics education, curriculum, and cross-national comparisons. I will be working with the TIMSS data for my dissertation.
