I was born in Iowa City, Iowa on June 24, 1967. My father was there working for the University of Iowa in the Educatinal Psychology department. At the age of two, he got a job at the University of Georgia and we moved to Athens. He advised my mother not to get a five-year drivers liscense because we probably woundn't be in Athens that long. We have now lived here for 28 years!
I went to Cedar Shoals High School here in Athens and matriculatd at Georgia College in Milledgeville, GA for one year on a soccer scholarship. When the school discontinued the program, I came back to Athens and finished my undergraduate degree at the University of Georgia in 1989. The following fall I started teaching at (of all places) Cedar Shoals High School. It is interesting to go back and teach at the same high that you attended especially when the teachers that taught you are still there! This is my eighth year at Cedar Shoals and I have had a great time. I teach Algebra II and Applied Mathematics I. I have been the head boys soccer coach for the last six years which has helped to eleviate much of the stress built up from the classroom.
I have been married for five years. My wife, Patti Huberty is also a teacher here in the Clarke County school system. She teaches fifth grade at Whit Davis Road Elementary School. We have one son, Zak, who is two years old and we have another on the way with an ETA June 15.
