Fun with Functions

This assignment is quite easy and probably should be approached with Graphing Calculator 3.1 (Although you can investigate the problems using a hand held graphing calculator, you will not be able to paste pictures into your write-up if you use only a graphing calculator.)

Investigate the following problems and write them up. Nothing too fancy... Just a picture and a few sentences will be sufficient for each problem. Careful that you use correct, mathematical language as you describe what you see.

As you examine multiple graphs, consider the different impact on the observations you can make by a sequence of graphs, adding one graph at a time, in contrast to creating all graphs in a set at once. Think about this kind of activity in your classroom. How could it be meaningful to your students? Please repsond to this prompt as a one paragraph conclusion/summary to your write-up.

1. Graph the following on the same axes:
Observations?

2. Graph the following on the same axes:
Observations?

3. Graph the following on the same axes:
Observations?

4. Graph the following on the same axes:
Observations?

5. Graph the following on the same axes:
Observations?
