Assignment 12:
The Spreadsheet in Mathematics Exploration
Using EXEL, construct a spreadsheet and graph of the parametric equations:
x = t + 1
y = 2t - 1
The following are the steps that I followed to complete this assignment:
1. Open a new EXCEL worksheet.
2. In column A: In the top cell, title the column 'value of t'. Then in cell C3 list the values that you would like to investigate.
3. In column B: In the top cell, title the column 'x-coordinate'. Then in cell B3, enter the equation '=A3+1'. Click on the corner of the cell and drag the curser down as far as you would like to copy this equation. This makes it easier, as you do not have to keep entering the equation and EXEL does the calculations for you.
4. In column C: In the top cell, title the column 'y-coordinate'. Then in cell C3, enter the equation '=2*A3-1'. Follow the same procedure as in step 3 to copy this equation down the column.
