The homework for day 1 is intended to help students practice their data collection and organization skills that they learned in class. Students should copy down measurements used in class and perform these measurements on at least one family member or friend. They should bring in their data and add it to the data from day 1 to give the class a larger sample size.
Students also need to look up three to five things in nature that have the golden ratio.
