Matrices are always difficult for students to visualize because it is a little more abstract then typical functions. The use of technology helps students to see why we create matrices and how it is related to functions that we do not normally see on a xy coordinate plane. Everyone knows the real world is not two dimensional and that is how we as teachers can use matrices to show this to our students. It is very hard to see three dimensional coordinate systems on a two dimensional surface, and that is why technology comes into play so nicely.
Technology is used in the real world and it's important our students get accustomed to using it at an early age. They become comfortable with it and see all of its beneficial uses early on it can make them more marketable in the future (plus in school-age years it can help concrete their understanding of certain topics).
