Reflection

This
project has shown me how time
consuming it can be to incorporate technology into the classroom.
The first thing that we did before we wrote any lesson plan was to
actually do the activity ourselves. In order to make sure that we
knew what we were doing and could explain and direct the students
through the activity we played with the technology and the activity to
make sure we could help the students if needed, and so that we could
write down any steps or hints they may need for the technology.
This is what consumed most the time because once we started playing we
kept wanting to do further exploration of our own.
I can see why
teachers do not
incorporate technology in their classrooms as much as they
should. So much goes into planning such activities.
Teachers also have to know the programs. If I was not as familiar
with these programs it would have made this project more
difficult. More experience is something that keeps coming up in
our research articles and I completely see how this can cause teachers
to veer away from technology use in their classrooms.
It was fun and
interesting for me
to see how matrices can be put into graphic representaions.
During a linear algebra class we did alot of graphing matrices by hand,
but using GSP and Graphing Calculator even helped me see what I already
knew a little better. This is why I think it is important for
teachers to learn to use technology and implement it in their
classrooms because teachers learn while they teach and if we as
teachers are understanding concepts better we have the tools then to
help our students to learn better.
