Why (x, y) cannot be (1,1)?

Given x=1 and y=1

So we have in our equation 1n + 1n = 1

1n = 1 because no matter how many times you multiply 1 by 1 it will always equal 1.

So we end with 1 + 1 = 1

Which means 2 = 1

Which is not true so x cannot equal 1 and y cannot equal 1.
