About Me
Tonya DeGeorge
Hi, my name is Tonya and I am a first year doctoral student at the University of Georgia (currently working on my PhD in mathematics education). I received both my Bachelor's and Master's degree in Mathematics Education from Boston University. After I received my first degree, I decided to teach in an urban school district just north of Boston. I received my Master's degree two years afterwards (teaching and going to school at the same time).
I just recently moved down to Georgia, after having taught for four years. I loved my job, but I knew I had to go back to school to become a better educator and researcher. The majority of my students were English Language Learners (ELLs) and they have inspired me to go back to school.
In my spare time, I enjoy activities such as kick boxing and tennis. I also enjoy reading, when I get a chance. However, I can see now that reading may be something I will soon need a break from! :)
