Tesselations

Welcome to the Tesselation Home Page.

If you have never heard of tesselations and have found this page by mere chance, just walk into your mother's bathroom or the kitchen and look on the floor and you will most likely see what we call a tesselation. A tesselation is basicly a geometric object where all the shapes fit together without spaces between them. Just like tile in the bathroom where there is all squares just like in the little movie above, there are tesselations all around us.

In this website we will explore what tesselations are, where they have come from or where they can be found in nature, and how to construct them if they are not exactly perfect shapes. We will be using a program called Geometer Sketchpad to explore the geometry behind the tesselations. Use the navigation bar to work your way around the website. Good luck and have fun with tesselations.
