Six Flags Over Georgia

This year, I am teaching physics, so as a reward for all of their hard work I took my physics students to Six Flags for Physics Day.

This is four of my seven students. From the front this is Adam, Ginger, Caroline, and Amanda.

One of the nice things about Physics day is that they give you a workbook, to have your students fill out. The topics in the workbook are all things that my seniors could do (should be able to have done) with no explaination from me throughout the day. So I printed out the workbook and they took it with them as they wandered the park.

This is Caroline again and Sara, another one of my students.

The nice thing about the workbook is that it is designeed for Math, Physics, and Science, so I could use it next year in my mathematics classroom. It is designed for a high school level, although I think many of the things could be adapted to the middle school classroom.

This is Jessi, scared to ride the scream machine, and Caroline and Sara are in the background. They are not camera shy.

I am going to include parts of the workbook online for my contextual unit. I think that my seniors gained a lot from the workbook and the experience and I also think that they really got to think about the physics and how it is not something just in a textbook, it is real, and they use it everyday.

This is six out of my seven students, from the left, Amanda, Sara, Caroline, Daffy (not my students), Jessi, Ginger, and Adam.
