Objective:
To conclude the unit and let the students see how functions behave in the real world.
Materials:
Range Finder
Graphing calculator with overhead
Procedure:
Graph f(x) = 2x - 9 on the overhead. Attach the range finder and have a volunteer try to walk the graph. Do this with an exponential and a quadratic function. This will bring functions to life for the students and help them see how functions behave in reality.
You may choose to play "Walk Like a Function." In this game, students will form two teams with another group of students acting like a jury. The two teams will draw different functions from a hat and will pick people from their team to walk the function. The jury will decide who wins.
