Let's look at the graphs for the following parabola
for different values of a, b, and c.

It is obvious to see that from these
graphs a, b, and c all change the graphs drastically. It appears that a
affects the width of the parabola, b affects the location of the vertex
both horizontally and vertically, and c affects the vertex vertically.
