Altitudes & the Orthocenter
Altitude - an altitude is the line segment perpendicualr to a side through a vertex. There are three altitudes to a triangle. What do you notice about the altitudes?
(Move point B, see what happens)
Orthocenter - the point of concurrency of the three altitudes of a triangle.
(Move point B, see what happens)

Investigate: Is the orthocenter the same distance from each of the vertices?
Is it the same distance from each side? Does the orthocenter remain in the triangle at all times? What types of triangles have orthocenters outside the triangle?
Investigate: Notice that the orthocenter divides each altitude into two parts.
What is the size relationship of the two pieces of the altitude?
