Given a rectangular garden that is surrounded by a walkway that is 1/4 the area of the garden. What is the width of the walkway?
Let Ag = area of garden, lg = length of garden, wg = with of garden, As = area of sidewalk, ls = length of the sidewalk and ws = width of sidewalk. Then,
As = (1/4) Ag
ls * ws = (1/4) lg * wg
ws = (lg *wg) / ls
