Teacher Note #8: Marking out the Parts
Once the construction class has ripped the material down to widths that are needed, the students will be able to measure and mark our their parts. The students need to write their name on their parts. This will help to keep the parts separated and the teacher can then come behind the students and check their measurements. The students need to make sure that they are marking the bottoms out of the bottom rips, and the sides out of a side rips. The blocks will all be the same width, so they will be easier for the students to keep straight. The students need to make sure that they space the parts at least 1/4 of an inch apart. This will allow for the width of the saw blade when they are cut.
