In Sculpture, it is desirable to be able to determine when certain proportions are consistent with the Golden Ratio. A simple three points caliper with its four pivots at the vertices of a rhombus can be constructed so that the three points of the caliper are consistent with the Golden Ratio.
The purpose of this investigation is to explore how the Golden Ratio Caliper is constructed.
A caliper is a device for measuring the distance between two points on a physical object. It can be as simple as a compass with one pivot, as sophisticated as a micrometer, or designed for specific applications.
