COMPOSITION OF LINEAR
FUNCITONS
Here is the algebraic
process of composing these linear functions.
Remember on the first
page, we discovered that composing two linear functions would
give us another linear function.
Well, here it is.
So, when composing
linear functions, we will always get a linear function whose slope
is equivilant to the product of the coefficients of the slope
of f(x) and g(x).
The y-intercept is
found by multiplying the coefficient of the slope of f(x) with
the y-intercept of g(x) then adding the y-intercept of f(x)
If you look carefully
at the graph, you can see that the new linear equation has a slope
of 10 and crosses the y-axis at 33.
