OUR TRIP TO LONDON

An Example for Teachers

Our senior class trip is going to be to London, England. We will be leaving from Atlanta on Tuesday, May 27 and will return on Wednesday, June 4.

1. Making the arrangement to go.

Use one of the following links to plan a trip to the destination chosen by your teacher. Do not forget to include that we have ten students going and four chaperones.

Expedia

Travelocity

Yahootravel

Be sure to include the following:

Transportation

-A bus from school to the airport

-The airplane ride from Atlanta to London

-Transportation from London airport to hotel

-Transportation once in London

-Transportation from London to Oxford

-Transportation from Oxford to London airport

Lodging

-A hotel in London for Tuesday-Sunday night

-A hotel in Oxford for Monday and Tuesday night

Also record the mileage from school to the airport, Atlanta to London, and London to Oxford.

Also make note of how many hours it will take to travel from school to the airport, Atlanta to London, and London to Oxford.

**DO NOT FORGET TO RECORD ALL OF THE COSTS **

2. Deciding where to go and what to do when we get there.

Now use the internet or a travel agency to find out what activities there are to do in London for the five days we will be there and in Oxford for the two days we will be there.

Be sure to include for at least one of the two destinations the following:

A Historical Musuem

An Art Musuem

Three Important Landmarks

A restaurant

One additional place of your choice

**DO NOT FORGET TO RECORD THE COST OF EACH ACTIVITY **

3. Understanding the currency in the country we are traveling to.

Now take all of the prices that you have found and convert them into British pounds.

Find the total cost of the trip and then divide the cost among the number of students traveling.

Take the distance found earlier and convert it to the standard unit of measure in England. This means the metric system

Also with the time of travel, discuss if there will be time zone issues.
