Translating Verbal Sentences and Problems into Equations

Define a variable, and then write an equation for each problem. Do NOT try to solve.

 

 

1. A number increased by -12 is -33. Find the number.

 

2. Two-thirds of a number decreased by 1 is 7. Find the number.
