Background:
Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1953. My family moved to California in 1958. We lived in San Diego, Long Beach, Westminster, and Huntington Beach. I graduated high school in 1971 Westminster High School. There were 880 students in my senior class. I moved to Bethlehem, Ga. in 1988 and began teaching in 1992.
Education:
I atttended Golden West College, a junior college in Huntington Beach, from 1971 to 1974. I changed my major 3 times in 4 years finally graduating with an Associates Arts Degree in Psychology. From there I transfered to San Diego State in the fall of 1975. I got to within 3 units of graduation when I changed my major from psychology to mathematics and transfered to Cal State University Fullerton. I graduated from CSUF in 1980 with a B. A. Degree in Mathematics. I game to UGA to get a Masters in Mathematics Education in 1991 and have returned to get a Specialist Degree in Mathematics Ed. This year I submitted my portfolio to the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards to obtain National Certifaction.
Family:
I am married to Dona Michelle Trillanes Messig, a Spanish Teacher at George Walton Academy. We met in Hawaii and lived in California until we decided to have children. We have a son Donald Antonio, who is 12 and a daughter Carsen Belle, who is 10. We have 4 horeses (Crayon, Sare, Mare,and Moondance), 5 cows, 2 dogs(Hunter and Kona), and two cats(Gato and Boots). We live on a 26 acre farm in Barrow County.
