Here are several graphs of the equation y = (x - d) (x-d) -2, for varying values of d. As it can be seen, for d = 0, the result is a parabola that is symmetric about the y-axis. As the value of d increases, the parabola shifts horizontally to the right of the y-axis. For values of d < 0, the parabola shifts to the left of the y-axis. However, d does not affect the vertical position of the parabola.
