(A #3) Reaction to a Reading of the Algebra Standard. Choose 1 sentence that you most identify with, agree with, or found challenging to your beliefs. Quote that sentence and then write one - two paragraphs justifying your selection.

(A #7) Read the Introduction to the Navigating Through Algebra books - the intro is the same in each book so just pick your favorite color :) Then scan Chapter One in each of the three books (all on Patterns). Then select the book that is appropriate for your favorite grade level (Pre-2, 3-5, or 6-8). Read carefully the information in this book's chapter one. Finally, choose ONE activity from this chapter and tell me

• One - two paragraphs explaining how you think this activity is representative (or not) of the introductory and chapter one readings you focused on.

(A #9) Read the article "Tracked to Fail" by Sheila Tobias. Take some time to reflect on this article and on your own experiences and thoughts about this controversial issue. Then state your current position when it comes to tracking students by "math ability." Note in your justification if you agree or disagree with some or all of tobias' points. (1 -2 pages typed and doubled space, please)

3. Grades 6-8: pgs 27-35
