For problems #1-3 below, you are to investigate the problem and turn in the following:

1. GSP Sketch

2. Data Table (a minimum of 10 pairs)

3. Scatter Plot

4. Algebraic Model

 

1. Area of a Triangle

Hold the base constant and vary the height. Compare the area of the triangle to its height

 

2. Area of a Triangle

Animate the vertex opposite the base along a line parallel to the base

Compare the measure of a base angle to the area of the triangle.

 

3. Circumference of a Circle

Vary the diameter. Compare the diameter to the circumference.

 

Bonus (due any time this semester)

Famous Fence Problem

You have 100ft of fencing with which to build a fence for your dog.

You will build a rectangular fence using your house for one side.

What is the maximum area you can enclose for your dog to play in?
