Responsibilities: Selected to participate in the three-year Mathematical
Association of America project entitled Historical Modules for
the Teaching and Learning of Secondary Mathematics, in association
with its ongoing project, the Institute in the History of Mathematics
and Its Use in
Teaching (IHMT). I was selected from eighteen high school teachers
that came to Washington from July 20 to July 31, 1998 , and three
subsequent summers in 1999 and 2000, to take a course in the history
of mathematics and to work on developing modules using historical
materials which will help in the teaching and learning of mathematical
ideas in high school. I worked with a team of 3 other members
to write our module which was on the topic of Exponentials and
Logarithms. The module will be piloted and field tested in the
Spring of 1999. Over the next two summers, 1999 and 2000, we will
be designing and field testing one more module. After the modules
are field tested and edited, a book will be commercially published.
Member of the Florida Council of Independent Schools (FCIS) Visiting
Evaluation Committee.

Responsibilities: Served as a member of the FCIS Visiting Evaluation
team whose role is to perform an in-depth study of the entire
school, its curriculum and programs that occur every five and
ten years. My role was evaluating the mathematics department in
regards to its curriculum and the department as a whole. I was
also responsible for recommendations, as well as commendations
that would help to improve the mathematics department in regards
to meeting the challenges of teaching mathematics in the twenty-
first century.

Responsibilities: Served as an on-air television consultant on
the Mathematics Homework Hotline which is a weekly one hour interactive
television program designed to tutor Hillsborough County Students
(grades 6-8) in mathematics. I was involved in all pre-production
of the program such as designing set, planning format of show,
and preparing on-air lesson plans and instructions.
