CBL and a Piece-wise Graph
Objective:
Create a piece-wise graph.
Materials:
Meter stick, motion detector, CBL, TI-82, and stop watch.
Directions:
First mark 2 meters from your motion detector. Place the motion
detector on the table or desk top. Connect the motion detector to the CBL
sonic port. Connect the TI-82 to the CBL using the link. Turn on the CBL
and the TI-82. Got to PRGM and execute program motion.. You will have
to enter 10 seconds to complete the motion pattern described below. After
you have completed the motion part, the calculator will ask you to choose
the type of graph. For our purposes choose distance-time graph. If you do
not like your results, do it again.
1) Walk toward the motion detector at .25m/s for 4 seconds.
2) Stop of 2 seconds.
3) Walk away from the motion detector at .4 m/s for 2 seconds.
4) Stop for 2 seconds.
Sketch your results on a coordinate plane.
Find an equation which represents each part of your graph (be sure to include
restrictions).
