Equations of Lines
Instructions:
1. Put a "friendly window" into the RANGE of your calculator.
Xmin: -9.4 Ymin: -6.2
Xmax: 9.6 Ymax: 6.4
Xscl: 1 Yscl: 1
(I have found that ZOOM:Integer does very nicely)
2. Graph each equation.
3. Use TRACE to find whole numbers for (x1, y1) and (x2, y2).
4. Calculate y2-y1 and x2-x1.
5. Calculate the slope using the equation slope = (y2-y1)/(x2-x1).
6. TRACE to find the Y-intercept.
Equation ....(x1,y1)....(x2,y2) ....y2-y1 ...x2-x1 ..Slope ...Y-Intercept
1. y = 2x
2. y = .5x + 3.5
3. y = -3x - 2
4. y = (-3/4)x + 4
5. y = 3x - 2
6. y = (2/3)x + 1
7. y = (-1/2)x - 4
8. 2x + 3y = 6
