Let us look again at
the graph of in the
xb plane. If we take the derivative of our equation we get the
and if we graph both equations on the same graph we can see a
very important relationship.
By looking at the two graphs
it is clear that the line of intersects
the parabolas of at
their respective minimum and maximum. This relationship can be
used when a graphing tool is not available, and we need to find
the minimum or maximum value of an equation.
