Volume of a 12-Ounce Can

What is the volume, in cubic inches, of a 12 ounce can?

In other words, how may cubic inches in a 12 oz can?

Make a guess.  What is your intuition?  An ice cube from an older ice cube tray is about 1 cubic inch.  How many ice cubes would melt and fill a 12 ounce can?  What are some other ways you might refine your guess?

Measure the radius and height of a soda can and compute an estimate.  Why is this an "estimate" rather than an exact volume?

How many cubic centimeters are in a 12 ounce can?  Coca-Cola and 7-up 12 ounce cans have 355 ml printed on them.      In the metric system one milliliter is one cubic centimeter (1 ml = 1 cc).    So there are 355 cc in a 12 ounce can (approximately).   Actually it is slightly less . . . approx 354.88

How many cubic centimeters in one cubic inch?    For conversions, we take one inch equal to 2.54 cm.     Therefore 1 cubic inch is (2.54)(2.54)(2.54) cubic centimeters.   (Approx 16.39).

Are your guesses and estimates close to ?
