Using Geometer's Sketchpad, I have created a set of tools to simplify popular constructions. Click on the tool you wish to use from the list below to open a GSP file with that construction tool.

Making your own tool forces you to think about what is involved in making a polygon or constructing a characteristic of a polygon. Students that pursue making their own tools gain a deeper understanding of how to use geometric principles, a much deeper understanding than if the student were to just read it from a textbook. GSP also forces higher level thinking because nothing can be cheated. Manipulating constructions through moving or animating points will highlight any flaws in the construction, so students must thoroughly think through the construction to create a usable tool.
