Homework Assignment Six

Directions:  This assignment will create a spreadsheet that calculates the Surface Area of rectangular prisms and cylinders.  The assignment has 12 questions and is worth 12 points.

 

For this assignment we will use the following equations:

 

1) SA = 2lw + 2lh + 2wh for a rectangular prism.

2) for a cylinder.

 

Open the spreadsheet from Assignment 5 and add a new column that will calculate the surface areas of a rectangular prisms and cylinders.  Use the spreadsheet to find the volume of each shape in worksheet 4-7 which is below. Make your spreadsheet look like the following.

Problems 1-6: Rectangular Prisms

 

1) l = 4 ft, w = 12 ft, h = 15 ft

2) l = 4.5 cm, w = 6.5 cm, h = 9cm

3) l = 50 cm, w = 35 cm, h =  48

4) l = 16 m, w = 13 m , h = 15 m

5) l = 5.8 ft, w = 8 ft, h = 6 ft

6) l = 5.8 ft, w = .275 ft, h = .05 ft

 

 

Problems 7-12:  Cylinders

 

7) r = 10 m, h = 8 m

8) d = 12 ft, h = 9 ft

9) d = 6 km, h = .5 km

10) r = 6 yd, h = 6.5 yd

11) r = 3.1 cm, h = 8.3 cm

12) d = 7.2 in, h = 5.25 in

 

After you have finished, save the assignment to your disk as:  Homework Assignment 6 and Turn it in.
